Somaliland's first recurring film festival. We started it because Somaliland has few cinemas and almost no film infrastructure. The festival gives audiences access to films, gives local filmmakers a public platform, and gives communities a place to engage with social issues through storytelling.
Through screenings, a jury, audience discussions and awards, the festival raises production standards and pushes young creatives to develop stronger film projects. Films speak to mental health, youth unemployment, migration, justice, climate change, peacebuilding, civic participation and social cohesion.
With support from Movies that Matter.
Open to filmmakers from Somaliland and the Somali diaspora. The call for the next edition is announced on @fankeenna.
